It is great to have a website that looks wonderful, functions correctly and is easy for your visitors to use, but the next step is make sure that the website is easy for your customers to find. To ensure that the site is easily found, you need to get it positioned as high as possible in the search engines result pages, such as Google, Bing and Yahoo.
What is SEO?
Search engine optimisation or SEO is the art of increasing targeted traffic to your website by improving the onpage and offpage factors influencing ranking on the major search engines.
In a recent report, it is shown that the webpage in the number one position will get 34% of traffic, the second position will get 16%, the tenth position will get 3% and the results on the second page of of the search engine will get around 1%. This tells us that getting on the first page of Google is essential to get traffic and ideally a website needs to be in the first 3 positions.
On page SEO
On-page SEO is done by researching what people are searching for, keyword research for choosing the best keywords, assessing the competition for your chosen key words and key-phrases, and tweaking your web site to rank well for these chosen key-words and key phrases. The next step is to get other sites to link to your site.
Backlinks from external websites are seen as a vote of confidence for your website and the more sites that link back to your site, the better it ranks in the search engines.
The quality of these backlinks is also important as a link from a high quality website is worth far more than a low quality link. Web optimisation is an ongoing process as search engines will constantly ‘spider’ sites and re-rank them and Google is constantly updating their algorithms as to how they rank websites. As there are only ten positions in the first page of a search engine, a webpage has to drop off the first page for another web page to be listed there.
It is essential to constantly review your website to keep it on the top 10 search engine results page (SERP). I can guide you in all the aspects of SEO from the choice of domain name, to the onpage factors and the offpage factors which effect your ranking.
The SEO Campaign Process
Free SEO consulation
At the beginning of the process, I like to meet with prospective client to get to know about their business, who their customers are and to explain the SEO process. This consultation is free of charge.
I look at the keyword and key phrases that people are using when they are searching for a product or service that you are offering. I then build a SEO campaign, using the “buying keywords” uncovered by the keyword research to enable your website to get found.
By looking at your competitors’ websites, I can see what SEO they are using and who is linking to them. It will then be easier to do optimizing better than them and hence outrank them on Google, Bing and Yahoo.
Tracking how your website is ranking for each keyword in the search engines, is very important as this is the measurement on how effective the search engine optimisation is working.
I will create fresh content for your site’s Blog ( if it has one) and I will but fresh content onto high quality websites that are relevant to your business. These posts will gain your site popularity and authority .
